Cradle to Cradle bronze certification for partition wall system
System 2000 eco from Strähle has become the first partition wall system in Germany to receive official Cradle to Cradle certification. Drees & Sommer supported the Baden-Württemberg-based company with the process.
The Cradle to Cradle (C2C) expert team provided professional support to Strähle, the specialist company for partition wall systems and acoustic solutions, in the certification process for its product. In line with the C2C principle, all components were assessed and improved in terms of their toxicological and recyclable properties.
Requirements for the certification also included evidence about the energy balance, the water quantity and quality required, and compliance with social criteria. Strähle was presented with the official certificate at the BAU trade fair in Munich in January by C2CPII, the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute. System 2000 eco is the first partition wall system in Germany to be certified by the C2CPII.
The construction and real estate industries are increasingly demanding products that support the circular economy and adhere to the Cradle to Cradle principle. Ideally, this means that all components pose no risks to health, and that materials can be cleanly separated and fully recycled. As well as Drees & Sommer, the company EPEA Internationale Umweltforschung GmbH assisted Strähle with the certification.
